The final entertainment of the day was a spectacular display by Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalists, La Quebrada Cliff Divers, who performed a series of stunts using the temporary diving pool and 25m diving board constructed for the event.

To ensure a strong signal, we cabled the feed up the side of York Minster, where a wireless transmitter and booster were positioned at the top of the highest tower. Wireless receivers were set up at the second and third screen locations, with back up equipment in place as a precaution. Screen content was provided to us from British Cycling’s chosen production team who supplied their own live camera crew, motorbike cameras and edit facilities to film the race.

When the race finished, we streamed live ITV4 footage of Tour de France footage on screen via our on-board satellite receiver.

We provided our two 46sqm mobile LED screens to be positioned either side of the Z shaped catwalk stage, showing a live feed of the evening’s entertainment alongside promotional footage for the film. Limited site access and noise restrictions meant there was a very small window to rig and de-rig the screens, therefore our client needed reliable equipment with a quick set up time.
Horse Guards Parade was also a busy event venue with the Hero Ride – a Help for Heroes charity bike ride – finishing there on the day of the premiere. Our screens were put to good use for this event as well as the premiere.

Marriott London Sevens – Twickenham Stadium

This year’s Rugby 7’s event in Twickenham was host to the final leg of the 2012 HSBC World 7 series. Last year’s event had over 100,000 spectators in attendance during the 2 day event, and the 2012 weekend certainly didn’t disappoint in being bigger and better than the previous year.

Services Provided:

  • 1 x 46sqm Mobile LED Screen
  • On-board Stage and PA Sound System
  • Live camera feed & crew
  • Full Production, live editing and graphics

The tournament is part of the HSBC Sevens World Series, a competition that pits the finest national sevens sides against each other across nine different tournaments. Each nation scores points based on their performances in these competitions until the season ends in London and one team is crowned as the World Series champions. The party atmosphere generated by the fans in the stands is almost unrivalled in the Twickenham calendar and with fancy dress galore, coupled with exclusive competitions and unique entertainment.

The 2012 theme was 70’s disco with spectators donning flairs and platform shoes and whilst over 12 hours of high-octane rugby took place on the pitch, Big TV’s 46sqm “all-in-one” mobile screen was the focal point of “Funky Town” in the stadium’s West Car park. Open to all ticket holders, across the weekend, our stage hosted live bands, cheerleaders and other big screen entertainment to keep the atmosphere up-tempo between games.

The 2013 event promised to be even bigger and better, and it certainly disappoint with its Safari Park theme. Our screen was positioned in the west car park again, which was aptly renamed the Game Reserve, where all fans could enjoy on-stage entertainment including live music, interviews with players and on-stage games. One of our cameramen also filmed the London Women’s Invitational 7s, taking place on a nearby pitch and the live footage was streamed onto our screen.

Client Feedback:

“Just wanted to drop you both a line to say a MASSIVE thank you to both yourselves and all the crew onsite. It has been an absolute pleasure working with all of you and it seems that nothing is too much effort for you guys – so thank you!”

World Rowing Championships

The World Rowing Junior Championships is an annual international rowing regatta organised by FISA (the International Rowing Federation). The GBR Organising Committee hosted the 2011 World Rowing Junior Championships, welcoming all the competitors, spectators, officials and guests to Dorney Lake, near Eton. Traditionally about 50 nations take part in the championships with around 600 juniors competing.

Services Provided

  • 4 x 46sqm Mobile Screens with 2 live cameras, wireless links, long lenses and relay
  • Full scale production with edit facilities and graphics

The World Rowing Junior Championships see the launch of a number of future stars. Looking back over the results of previous championships, we see the names of many athletes who later went on to achieve Olympic and other senior championship successes.
The event is very special for all lovers of the sport of rowing, but particularly for the participants – whether it being a stepping stone on to greater things or the pinnacle of their rowing achievements. In 2011, the championships were rowing’s official test event for the London Olympics, with the Eton Dorney Lake venue being put through its paces and assessed by the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG).
Big TV were privileged to be a part of this event in 2011, providing full technical support and guidance in the lead up to and during the 4 day event itself.

During the event, we provided 2 x 46sqm mobile LED screens with 2 live roaming HD cameras, 1 static long lens camera, broadcast quality camera crew, gigawave wireless links and a live production edit suite. The cameras were operated wirelessly and travelled down the length of the rowing lake during races, sending a live feed of the race back to our screens for spectators to follow the action. The screens also displayed pre-set graphics and results tables, working alongside a professional timing company.

Hartlepool Tall Ships

In 2010, Hartlepool was proud to be chosen as the finishing port and only UK host port for the Tall Ships Races. The event took place between 7th and 11th August and was England’s biggest free event with one million visitors expected to visit!

The Tall Ships Village linked the two berthing sites and included street entertainment, trade stalls, a World Market and music acts. A stage was set up in the heart of the village with our 2 x 46sqm screens either side, ensuring the thousands of spectators could see (and hear!) the live entertainment.

In 2011, the ships docked in the Shetland Islands and we were faced with the daunting task of shipping our 40 tonne, 19m screen truck across the stormy North Sea! Over the course of the weekend, thousands of visitors took the opportunity to board and explore the Tall Ships berthed along the Lerwick waterfront.

With over 100 music performances over the weekend, including some fantastic local musical talent, thousands enjoyed the headline concerts on Friday and Saturday night featuring Levellers and Bjorn Again, followed by a spectacular firework display which graced the skies of Lerwick with the Ships berthed at Holmsgarth providing the perfect backdrop.

Our 46sqm screen complimented the outdoor stage, and our full production crew including 3 HD camera crew and edit facilities filmed the live action and mixed the content to broadcast on screen.

case_worldcup

World Cup 2010

It may have been a disappointing time for England supporters but we had a busy month of events during the World Cup. With screens dotted around the UK at several events and one screen positioned in Frankfurt, Germany for the duration of the World Cup – it’s a shame our technicians aren’t football fans!

One of our 46sqm mobile screens with D&B sound system and stage was the focus point of the fan zone in the centre of Frankfurt. The screen was completely wrapped in branding for the event. Outdoor broadcasts of the games also took place at Glastonbury festival and Santa Pod, amongst others.

Alongside the World Cup, we also provided screen and stage hire for Blackpool FC to celebrate their promotion to the premiership.
